Embarrassing Names
7/27/18 Austin-American reports there is discussion of reaming Austin, because of racist statements by the Texas patriot after whom it is named. Considering the University of Texas is there: how about Marxville, or Guevara City?
It should be some name consistent with the city's major industries, government and the University of Texas at Austin. Perhaps Stalingrad-on-Colorado? If that's too obvious, then Steeltown?

ReplyDeleteI live in the Washington DC area and I'm still waiting for the Woodrow Wilson bridge to get renamed but I'm not going to hold my breath on that one.
ReplyDeleteBest suggestion so far is "Liberal Sanctimony" from Sean Rima at KTSA
