Awesome Indian Restaurant in Pendleton, OR
On the way to the coast a week or so ago, we stayed at the Marigold Hotel in Pendleton, Oregon. 1950s motel nicely upgraded run by a very nice Indian fsmily. Down the street is a spectacular Indian restaurant, A Taste of India. AWESOME!
Thank you for your "Tip Of The Hat" to my home town; Pendleton.
Interesting factum: when you say the word "Indian" in Pendleton, folks automatically think "Native American". Actually, they think either "Umatilla Indians" (after which the county is named), or Nez Perce (the "parent" tribe of Umatillas.
Pendleton is also known as "The World's Round-up City", because it presents the "Pendleton Round Up", one of the top rodeos in the country. Tens of thousands of tourists flock to Umatilla County in September ... many make reservations for rodeo tickets years in advance although the stadium has been replaced to improve capacity at least once. It rates right up there with the Calgary Stampede, with the bonus that it's an American institution.
