Odd Static Problem

I have some wireless headphones that I use with my TV.  They plug into the 1/4" jack on the antique stereo receiver to which the TV output goes.  The stereo puts out the right signal to the similarly antique speakers.  As soon as I remove the headphones from the charging cradle: static.  I suspect either headphones or charging cradle/wireless transmitter has gone bad.  All the connectors are tight.  Any other guesses?

  1. Sounds to me like your wireless transmitter/receiver has a problem- can't say without testing whether it's the transmitter- which plugs into your headphone output and sends the signal to the headphones, or the receiver which is built into the headphones.

My Dad had a similar set, which failed pretty much the same way, and I threw it out since replacement parts weren't available. It was a pity, the headphones looked nice, though I never got to find out how they sounded. I think they were "Electrovoice."

I have a bunch of bluetooth headphones of several different types: some are for music/TV at home, some for music/phone & a couple for sports activities, that I've picked up over the years. I have an old car (1998 Buick) which has an old stereo, and I've attached a Bluetooth transmitter/receiver to it, so that I can play music from my phone thru the car speakers (I don't trust the ancient CD/Cassette mechanism, though it does still work, amazingly.) That one is of course 12v, powered by the cigarette lighter, and it also charges my phone.

There are lots of different Bluetooth (BT) transmitters & recievers available. Here's one, which would plug into the headphone outlet on your receiver (though you'd need a 3.5mm-->6.5mm stereo adapter) which would allow you to use any BT headset you have. If you don't have any, then you'd have to buy a BT headset as well of course, but whatever headphones you buy will also work with your BT phone.

This example is powered by a rechargeable battery which can be recharged with any USB type 5v charger (not included,) and it can be charging while it is in use.

There are lots of different BT transmitters with all sorts of different pricetags, so look around before buying. Hope this helps!

(I forgot that Amazon droppings appear magically at your door, so maybe you'll get one for free! LOL!)
