I have long thought that gun control advocates are that way because of projection; they assume most gun owners are as unhinged as they are. An NRA spokeswoman had had to move her family out of their house because of threats of gun violence by those who want more gun control. I've literally seen, more than once, "guns should be banned because I know if I had one I'd shoot people".
