Another Dead Drive

I bought a Seagate 4TB external drive in 2013, which appears to have died.  Fortunately I do simultaneous backups on two external hard drives.  A little paranoia is a good thing.  I am trying to deduce the serial number from the many numbers on the case, and the Seagate page is useless. Keep turning it over, more numbers appear and they are clearly identifying what I need.

  1. On the other hand, a 2013 drive is four years old, in terms of active life, and the expected life of a hard disk is about five years (operational time).

So probably it just wore out normally, and the serial won't be of any great import.

("If it doesn't have redundant, tested backups it's already gone.")
