Declining Standards

Someone sent me this link to an 1869 Harvard entrance exam.  Because it appears at a New York Times website, it appears legitimate.  Now some of the tested material is perhaps less relevant today (Latin, Greek), but the math and geography material is likely beyond the abilities of many of their graduates today.  Also, to be fair, high school was more an elite institution back then. My father went to high school in 1924; his brother went to sea.
