More American Jobs: A Continuing Tragedy

1/13/17 Fort Worth Star-Telegram:
Lockheed Martin CEO Marillyn Hewson emerged from a meeting with President-elect Donald Trump Friday pledging to bring down the cost of the F-35 Lightning II and promising to hire more than 1,800 additional workers at the Fort Worth plant.
Trump has been in a dogfight with Lockheed Martin over the F-35 program, questioning its costs and capabilities. Last month he went on Twitter to say that the stealth fighter’s costs were “out of control” and he talked about replacing it with a comparable F-18 Hornet built by Boeing.
In one sense, military-industrial complex jobs really don't tell us anything about economic health and growth.  The newly hired workers might disagree.  Bringing the military-industrial complex into more responsible pricing should just infuriate all those leftists with the Air Force bake sale bumper stickers, right?

  1. The F-35 absolutely needs to be killed. It cannot be fixed. It is non-functional. Too many poor decisions made back when it was in the early design stages, apparently. The military keeps reducing the benchmarks it needs to meet, and it still can't work.
Dig a pit, and bulldoze them all into it, to keep the idiots from continuing to throw money into this fiasco. New radar systems can mow see this thing. It has no redeeming qualities.

This plane has reached the point that it will REQUIRE fighter escorts to survive in combat! that is just so stupid. Sounds like the idiotic German ME-210/410 planes in ww2. Just a F***ing jobs dispenser. Thy have been working on this clunker for so many years, that most of the contents are obsolete, and can't be updated. There are lots of failed aircraft designs for every one that works. Not every good design gets made, for that matter. This one is bad, period.

  2. Agree entirely with Will above.

There is also a lot to be done to restore actual ships capable of battle into the Navy, instead of the all-new whizzbang marvels that have to be towed back to harbor after each short outing.

Time for the snake-oil salesmen to find a new line of work!
