Emacs on Windows 7

I have been a fan of emacs as a general purpose editor for decades.  I have long used Epsilon, an emacs clone on PC-DOS and Windows through XP.  It does not seem to work in Windows 7, and installing the open source version was a pain, until I found this.

  2. My first reaction to emacs was disgust, but some of the unique features such as keyboard macros make it a profoundly useful tool.

  5. I can use vile, but the old joke about vi commands being hard to distinguish from line noise comes to mind. dw deletes to end of line; dG to end of file; does d* erase the universe?

  6. No, no - dw deletes to the end of the _word_, d$ deletes to the end of the line. :)

    Yes, noise-like for sure, but my fingers know it. My brain isn't even involved.

    I'll have to try d* and see what happ
