WASHINGTON — The
Treasury
Department will announce on Wednesday afternoon that Harriet Tubman, an
African-American who ferried hundreds of slaves to freedom, will
replace the slaveholding Andrew Jackson on the center of a new $20 note,
according to a Treasury official, while newly popular
Alexander Hamilton will remain on the face of the $10 bill.
Other depictions of women and civil rights leaders will also be part of new currency designs.
This is a twofer for Democrats; puting a black woman in place of an Indian-killer.
As someone mentioned elsewhere, wait until they find out she was a gun-toting Republican.

Don't forget that Andrew Jackson was also against central banks. Putting him on a Federal Reserve Note is like naming a divinity school chair after Christopher Hitchens.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, what woman in US history had done more for freedom than Tubman? I honestly can't think of one. I'd say that the bondage she fought against was far more serious than the one fought by Susan B. Anthony.
