Washington (CNN)Donald Trump said Thursday he is opposed to tightening gun laws in the U.S. but is in favor of addressing mental health to prevent shootings, one day after a man shot two journalists on live television."This isn't a gun problem, this is a mental problem," Trump told CNN's Chris Cuomo on "New Day." "It's not a question of the laws, it's really the people."Calling the gunman a "very sick man," Trump said mental illness is "a massive problem" in the U.S. He suggested more resources should be devoted to addressing mental health -- hoping to prevent shootings like the one in Virginia, which he called "really, very sad."

Gutsy Trump
From August 27, 2015 CNN:
I can't recall asking you this before, but has anyone done any work on sorting out whether most of those who murder with a firearm are *already* "prohibited persons"?
ReplyDelete45% of people arrested for murder in 1975 had prior murder convictions, which is a firearms disqualifier.
DeleteClayton,
ReplyDeleteCheck out this blog: http://www.readjamesonparker.com/archives/2518#comments I'd like to get a copy of the book on your brother to him.
So in other words, not recently, and not in great detail?
ReplyDeleteHere's a program that discusses mental health and guns from this Morning (8/31) that is a mostly an anti-gun rant. One of the speakers on this has a upcoming book apparently on mental health and guns.

One guy expressed the typical BS that guns are mostly a white/middle-age thing and as those evil guys die out then they will win in their ban effort.
Boy, what a typical biased and full of BS program.
Billy: The FBI study is one of which I am aware without doing any research. People who commit murder are very atypical. Usually convicted felons, mentally ill, or minors.
ReplyDeletew: What I expect from Diane Rehms, who sounds like she does not have much time left herself.
