Perhaps A Solution To Samba
There is a new version of LinuxCNC that runs under debian wheezy, which is a recent release, and likely works with Windows 7/Samba.
Wheezy is a good release of Debian, although you might find yourself needing to use a newer kernel from e.g. the backports repository if your hardware is new, since it was shipped 3 years ago and frozen at least half a year before then. It'll have official security releases for another year, then the LTS team should support it for at least another year. It has an advantage of being the last Debian release without systemd; right now I'm switching my Debian squeeze (prior release) to Alpine due to that bad implementation of a mostly bad idea.
