What Were Second Amendment Arms in 1789?
Here's a 1789 ad offering "hand grenadoes, filled and fused" (probably equivalent to a pipe bomb today):
Clayton. An 18th century hand grenade looked very like an iron pomegranate ( Spanish is "la granada" ) hence grenadoe and finally grenade. They were used by specialist troops. Tall guys wearing what looked like a mitre as headgear and referred to as a "grenadier's cap" (in British service at any rate).
