If You Aren't Armed As You Go About Your Daily Business, Why?

In case you haven't already seen this.  From SkyNews:

Three masked men kill 12 people after storming the offices of magazine Charlie Hebdo, then flee after a gun battle with police.
From CBS DC:
“Hey! We avenged the Prophet Muhammad! We killed Charlie Hebdo,” one of the men shouted in French, according to a video shot from a nearby building and broadcast on French TV. Other video showed two gunmen in black at a crossroads who appeared to fire down one of the streets. A cry of “Allahu akbar!” – Arabic for “God is great”- could be heard among the gunshots.
I can't imagine we won't have similar attacks, either organized or "lone wolf" in the U.S.

  1. I'm still slogging through the news reports of the attack. The media stated that the terrorists used AK's and even a rocket or RPG, depending on which article I read.

You can own firearms in France, but they are registered and you can't just own EVERY weapon. The blog "The Truth About Guns" stated that New York firearms laws looked pretty lenient in comparison.

I'm fairly certain that these firearms were smuggled in to France. So much for Gun Control. The USA may have a higher crime rate with firearms than some European nations, but when was the last time a crime was committed with a grenade or an anti-tank round? Yes, there is a huge problem with "military grade" weapons in nations south of the USA border... and often those weapons were built in the US. But those weapons went through contractors/military agencies from other nations before being illegally acquired by criminals. (I'm trying to find the article about the grenade attack in the UK, with little luck.)

Maybe I'm just twisted in my thinking, but if the gun grabbers got their way then the criminals in the USA may just end up with military grade firepower against the defenseless law abiding citizens.

  2. Any attack would be horrendous but I fear much more that we will have a hundred Sandy Hooks in one day.
