A good article- I find nothing to disagree with. I do have a few questions:
Has mental illness increased since 1900? Are age related mental illnesses (such as Alzheimer) the same as others in this study? (I would expect that Schizophenia would be the worst.)
The prison population is disproportionally black (to the population). Are the mentally ill in prison the same proportion for black and non-black? In the general population, are the black vs non-black mental illness rates the same, and/or for all kinds of illnesses?
Would the additional pressure of "racism" (whether just perceived or real) push one into violence who would not have otherwise been there?
