Progress: Most Americans Think Guns Make Homes Safer
An October Gallup Poll finds that 63% of Americans believe a gun makes a home safer. That is an astonishing change in perceptions. I am guessing that growing in such homes plays a big part. To be fair, much of the old view I think reflected some very dysfunctional homes, like a secretary with whom I worked at HP. Her father was an alcoholic hunter, and the practices in her home were dreadful.
I suspect that it has more to do with the "blood in the streets!" predictions failing time after time after time as one State after another passed shall-issue CCW laws. After that, people stopped believing the "guns in the house are d-d-d-dangerous!" claims as well.
