I Hope The Left Is Good And Thoroughly Upset About The Peruta Decision

I am sure that we will shortly be hearing screeching about respect for local authority, the importance of trusting the majority to elect legislators who represent their wishes, and (who knows) even calls for federalism.  To which my only response is: where were you when the courts were striking down abortion laws, sodomy laws, welfare waiting period laws?  Admittedly, we have one real advantage: Peruta was decided based on an explicit guarantee in the Constitution.  The rest of these judge-made rules were, at best, implied rights.
