Can someone explain why the Ukraine is ahead of Canada for who is reading my blog?
I'm going to say that the accesses from slightly unusual locations are spam bots hitting the site looking to post spam comments. I see the same sort of thing with my own blog and with registrations on a forum I administer.
The less developed eastern European countries, China, and Viet Nam are hotbeds of spammers and scammers now.
juse1101: If the weather had been better in Saskatchewan a century ago, I would be talking funny and stuffing "eh?" in places it doesn't belong, too! My paternal grandparents were going to get rich growing wheat, and in those days, you had to apply for landed immigrant status to buy land in Canada.
And I have relatives who live in B.C. Not in an igloo!
Doug: I thought about that, but had not considered the Ukraine a spammer hotbed. But it makes sense, really. Besides, I like the fantasy of having worldwide impact.
Russian hackers looking to turn your site into a Bot.
I have a site and I log hundreds of 404 errors every month with attempts to load login script pages that don't exist on my site. And that's with a Host that shuts them down after three such hits.
I'd be more worried about the 48 ChiCom agents monitoring you...

The Ukraine is one of the biggest sources of comment spam at the sites I administer.
ReplyDeleteMainland China is pretty bad, too, as is Russia. The Netherlands is rather bad for porn spam.
