Sources tell TVNewser Luciano’s dismissal came after an investigation which also led to the firing of a seasoned NBC News producer over a similar, misleading edit. In a story for the “Today” show on March 20, Luciano used part of the George Zimmerman 911 call in which an entire phrase (italicized below) was taken from a later part of the conversation:Got that? This is worse than dropping words out of the middle (which might be the result of someone being careless). She actually moved the phrase in italics from a later part of the call.Zimmerman: This guy looks like he’s up to no good or on drugs or something. He’s got his hand in his waistband. And he’s a black male.Dispatcher: Are you following him?
Zimmerman: Yeah.
Dispatcher: Okay, we don’t need you to do that.

A Third NBC "Journalist" Fired For Misleading Viewers
Unlike the other two "journalists" who edited out some words from the 911 call by Zimmerman, this "journalist" actually moved words from another part of the call to make Zimmerman appear to be a racist:
I would like to see a more severe punishment than just firing these liars. Something that will remain on their record for all to see from there on for instance.
ReplyDeleteAnother thing, are they actually getting fired or, are they just saying that to appease?
Exactly. Are these real people getting fired, or is it like firing Betty Crocker or the name of the fictitious manager used in correspondence on certain subjects where the writer was considered a crackpot, which I understood was done at some large corps in the 50's and 60's?
ReplyDeleteAnd what were they thinking? Did they believe that Zimmerman must be guilty so they were just helping matters a little bit the way anonymous people edited Richard Hauptmann's work records to refute his claim he was at work on certain days in order to get a conviction in the Lindberg kidnapping case of someone obviously guilty?
