Craters of the Moon
We visited there back in June of 2004--and I just never got around to posting the pictures. The simpler picture interface of Blogger helps. It is indeed, rather Moon-like--but show up in spring, and it is beautiful.
This looks very much like the Big Island of Hawaii, near the volcanic areas. In fact, I would have said it's Kilauea if you hadn't told me it was a place in Idaho.
