For You Materials Science Nerds
Why 304 stainless steel is less corrosion resistant than you may assume:
And if, like me, you have ever wondered what distinguishes 304 from 18/8 stainless steel.
316 is better than 304 from a corrosion POV. But whichever grade ALWAYS use anti-seize, or the the stainless will either weld itself together, or destroy other materials. (Stainless fasteners into aluminum is a particular problem)
