My personal email firstname @ firstnamelastname.com receives but cannot send. Thunderbird times out on send. My mailhost has no answers. They see connection attempt. So I tried Outlook.

Gmail occasionally takes exception to Thunderbird. Login to your account via web, see if there are any flags around you Thunderbird session (under devices at accounts.google.com)
ReplyDeleteGoogle hates Thunderbird, because they cannot track which links you actually click. They hate not knowing EVERYTHING you do.
I just reinstalled Thunderbird on a new PC. There is a setup script that runs when you add a new account. (I have multiple accounts routed to Thunderbird.) I don't know if there is a way to invoke that script or not after the fact. How mine is set up in Thunderbird settings is below.

ReplyDeleteThe most common problem is this: The solution to my problem was that I had changed my email password and I'd updated my email account password via the Outlook Account screen. But you also need to check the 'More Options' box to go and change the password for the SMTP server on this second screen.
ReplyDeleteThis explains why I could receive emails (password correct for incoming emails, but couldn't send (password still using old one for SMTP server).
Now all working for me.
