Mistakes Happen

If a civilian here hit an innocent bystander, it would be 24/7 news for at least a week.  They do not have thst problem in Britain. 10/3/25  New York Times reports that one of the dead in the Manchester synagogue terrorist attack was shot by police.

I am sure that armed civilians here make that mistake but it seems to be exceedingly rare.  Why?  Civilians are trained to stay out of situations that are ambiguous.  Why many armed civilians are actually pretty competent marksman, they generally know this is hard and it is best to take no chances.
