Machining

The production part requires excavating a section off the bottom and top of a rectangular solid of aluminum, and two side sections, and a slot down the middle.  The bottom excavation works, now I have the side section cuts under way.

Ordinarily I use BreakFree CLP to cool and lubricate the cutting surface, but the spray bottle puts out so much oil that I went looking for a smaller bottle.  What I found had KY Jelly in it, which works pretty well.  (At least the workpiece and end mill seem satisfied.)

  1. Clayton,

I've followed you for years. I know nothing about machining other than Engineering Drawing in 1960. I appreciate your analytical approach.

Now, the K-Y jelly brought the Coke to my nose.

    Keep up the good work.

    JJ

  2. It may be just the video, but that seems much too slow of a spindle speed. Even the sound seems wrong.
