Use several. <br /><br />Yes, you can unscrew them to get the end of the strap free to do a wrap. Measure the diameter you will need, and buy them to just meet this size. No need to have excess tail sticking out to catch your pants, etc. Consider covering the clamps after tightening.<br /><br />BTW, amazon sells replacement struts for those chairs. Some are from the chair maker.<br /><br />You can use ty-wraps, but it is difficult to get them properly tensioned without the correct tool. This cutter stretches the end, so when cut it retracts into the body. Just cutting it leaves a sharp end hanging out, like a blade.
