A Proud Day
Not a battle, not even an economic win. Just a win for American abilities.
I remember the coverage well. We grilled and watched it on the patio.
I watched it on a black and white TV. Dad was a government inspector on the titanium fuel tanks in the Command Module and the LEM. I built models of everything, from the full stack to the LEM (which hung from my bedroom ceiling).
